Tortola, British Virgin Islands

Today we arrived in Tortola at 9:30AM. It was a beautiful site as we arrived, all the different color houses on the mountainsides!

We went on an excursion to Virgin Gorda, since we had been to Tortola before...good thing since we found out today (Monday) is Easter in Tortola and everything is closed up! Not sure why they celebrate Easter on Monday rather than Sunday though.

Virgin Gorda is where the baths are and snorkeling. We had to swim off the boat to shore, quite a long way, and then you walk thru the caves/rocks to the baths...beautiful walk/climb but treacherous, said goodbye to my mani and pedi as I was clinging to rocks for dear life at times!

It was a 45 min boat ride there, beautiful islands/water, just tried to take it all in!

Once there, it was jump in and swim [snorkel] to the beach...

Once we reached the beach we headed for the baths...

Once we reached the bay we went snorkeling...Dan and I were disappointed in the fish as they didn't compare to what we saw in Bora Bora, and then I saw this!

I was shocked, it was so close, like a foot away from me...I quickly backed up and then snapped some pics...people were swimming all around and had no clue, but the guys from our boat said it was fine...I'm sure that's what the crocodile hunter thought too, until the stinger got him in the heart!

We really enjoyed this excursion, well worth it!

After heading back to the beach, we stopped at the local shack for a brewski and hot dog!

Then it was swim back to the boat and break out the rum time!

Not sure who enjoyed the rum more, us or the crew! :)

Took some pics of the beautiful sites back, rumor has it that the big house on the hill is Mick Jaggers!

Just enough time left for a little shopping, and then back to the boat!

Goodbye Antigua!

Samana, Dominican Republic

Happy Easter! We started off our day at a Resurrection Day Service on the ship. It was quite moving and led by a Jamaican Pastor. We really enjoyed the gospel and singing his praise!

At 11AM we arrived in Samana...we were welcomed into port by dolphins swimming and jumping next to the boat, fun to watch from our breakfast table. We chose to walk around town and check out the little city. It was extremely hot so we did stop to enjoy a Pina Colada and some beer! Took lots of pics as these cities always fascinate me!

We had to anchor and tether to the island. The rest of the islands they tell us we will dock, so this is the only one we will tether to.

Back to the ship, will enjoy dinner and another show tonight...may try our luck again in the casino! Tomorrow Tortola, BVI!

Off we sail...

...to the caribbean...on Friday we left Miami for the Dominican Republic. We were headed for Samana, a fairly new port for cruise ships. We both popped a Dramamine prior to getting on the ship and managed to sleep thru the Sail Away Party, in fact we have been sleeping really good, don't know if it's the being 'rocked' to sleep or if it's the drugs...but we are not lacking for sleep, I assure you!

Yesterday was a day at sea, we ate, slept, and laid by the pool a bit, then ate some more, went to a show, drank a little and enjoyed a piano bar and ended up in the casino, where I managed to kick butt at the blackjack table, yay!

Slept like babies again last night, there really is something to being 'rocked' to sleep!
